In November and December 2015, POR LA SOLIDARITÉ – PLS brought together young people from the Matissa association and the Youth Center of Forest (Brussels) in the context of three workshops to fight online discrimination. In line with the ICUD project, the objective was to work on a more secure use of social networks, but also the prejudices spread online.
The number of users on social networks is constantly increasing and the majority of them are young people. As part of its fight against discrimination, PLS has chosen to work with adolescents aged 12 to 20 years, with the angle to approach the spread or prejudices online, either openly or latently. Terrorist threats, which have monopolized the headlines the weeks before the workshops, did not spare the social networks. These outreach meetings therefore took place in a context where the young people could ignore the messages and discriminatory comments to which they could face online.
The tools developed as part of ICUD project have actually been put to use by PLS, as well as workshop leaders accompanying the young.
The workshops took place thanks to the support of Commission communautaire française (COCOF).
